The 1st International Symposium on Nanotechnology for Healthcare brings together leading researchers, clinicians, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders to address one central challenge: how to effectively translate nanotechnology-based innovations into real-world healthcare.
Despite significant advances in nanoparticle engineering, drug delivery systems, and biomaterials, the field continues to face critical bottlenecks in scalability, safety, regulatory approval, and clinical adoption. This symposium is designed to confront these barriers through interdisciplinary dialogue and convergence.
Hosted by the Translational Research Program on Nanotechnology at Fiocruz (Fio- Nano), the event emphasizes applications in infectious diseases, cancer, and socially determined health conditions, with a strong focus on emerging and low- and middle-income country contexts.
Scientific Scope
The program is structured around key domains driving innovation in nanomedicine:
Nanoparticle Design and Synthesis
Advanced strategies for engineering nanocarriers targeting pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications.
Cutting-edge platforms for RNA, DNA, and protein delivery, including challenges in stability, targeting, and immunogenicity.
Nanometrology and Nanotoxicology
Standardization, safety assessment, and regulatory considerations for clinical translation.
3D Bioprinting and Engineered Nanomaterials
Integration of nanotechnology with tissue engineering, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
Nanomedicine in Oncology and Infectious Diseases
Translational approaches addressing high-burden diseases, including cancer and infectious diseases.
Translational Focus
A dedicated round table will address the critical interface between science, education, training, regulation, and funding, bringing together representatives from regulatory agencies, funders, and innovation ecosystems.
